The Advantages of Exercising In Your Home

How many times have you joined a $10 a month gym and never gone? Have you ever felt too self-conscious to do your exercise routine in front of others so you stay on the elliptical? Are you sick of spending an extra 30 minutes driving back and forth to the gym? These are just a few of the reasons why joining a gym just doesn’t work for many people.

Exercising in your home is becoming more and more popular. People are realizing that gym memberships just don’t work. The average gym has about 7000 members and the average facility can only hold 300 members. It does not take a math whiz to see that gyms make their money assuming most people won’t even attend. How sad is that? It is time to break the cycle! I know this is cliché, but as they say “The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.” It is time to stop wasting your money on a gym membership that you do not use and try something new.

Here are just a few of the advantages of exercising in your home:

Privacy: When exercising in your home, you don’t have to worry about that fitness model watching your form. She probably wasn’t anyway, but now you can relax knowing that nobody is judging you. You can skip the make-up, not worry about your hair looking greasy, and even exercise in your pajamas if you want.

Convenience: How many times have you had an hour to do your workout but realized the drive to the gym and back will leave you less than 30 minutes? When you work out in your home, there is no commute. No packing up a gym back with clothes and shower stuff. Just walk downstairs to your workout area and done. It’s go time! This also comes in handy during bad weather like snow or rain. You don’t have to worry about slipping on the ice or getting into a car accident.

Cleanliness: I don’t know about you, but those gym showers just gross me out. I would much rather clean up in my own bathroom. Also, you don’t have to be exposed to all those germs, especially around flu season. Lots of people do not wipe down the equipment after use and sitting in someone else’s sweat is just yucky!

You don’t need a babysitter: Very few gyms have daycares nowadays, and it is hard to find a babysitter for just an hour while you go to the gym. When you work out in your home, you can check on the kiddos during your breaks and still get a great sweat in.

Accountability: When you are exercising in your home, the list of reasons to not get your work out in decreases greatly. Especially if you have a Torie’s Fitness trainer showing up at your door. You can’t really use the excuse of “I can’t make it today.”

You will get a better workout: People often rely on machines for weight training when working out in a gym. When you are home, you are forced to do more exercises with your body weight and free weights. These types of exercises engage more muscle groups like your core and legs giving you an overall higher calorie burn.

Joining a gym is not for everyone. Exercising in your home may be the perfect solution for you. Contact me today to schedule a free fitness consultation and free sample workout. You have nothing to lose!
